리튬 이온, 리튬 폴리머 같은 배터리 종류로서 들어 본적 있는
리튬은 의학적으로는 조울증, 양극성 장해(bipolar disorder) 환자들의
정신과 치료에 널리 사용되어 왔다고 한다.
개인 적으로는 리튬이 뭔지도 모를 십 수년 전,
배철수의 음악 캠프에서 소개된 Sting의 Lithium Sunset이라는 곡 설명 중
석양의 빛에는 리튬과 같이 사람의 마음을 달래는 작용이 있다던가
혹은 그 빛에서 리튬 성분이 나온다던가 하는 말을 들었던 기억이 난다.
석양의 이미지라 하면 왠지 흔들의자에서
지는 해를 멍하니 바라보는 것인지, 멀리 떠난 자식을 기다리는 것인지 모를
미국식 늙은 어머니나 아버지가 떠오르는데,
실망감, 좌절, 우울이라는 단어가 떠오르면 석양을 바라다 볼 일이다.
비가 추적이는 아침,
버스 안에서 꾸벅 꾸벅 졸며 듣기 좋았던 곡.
